Tadbit productions came into existence for my MSc in Multimedia project. The project consisted of five members and aimed to research and collect information on the Iveagh Trust and the surrounding area. In order to connect with the people and companies in the area we developed ‘Tadbit Productions’. Once we decided on the name I started to develop the logo and brand.

Research & design process

The logo was developed based on Iveagh trust buildings and on the theme of research and wisdom. I researched the area and mind mapped ideas. This helped to generate themes.

I was inspired by the area, such as the motifs that are found on the Iveagh trust building. I sketched up a few different examples and then brought some of the ideas into illustrator and developed them further. Once I had a few options I showed the team and we discussed which ones were suitable. We went with an owl illustration that represented wisdom and exploration, but also had a modern and fun aspect to it.

Once we had the logo designed I decided on fonts and colours. The colours I choose were black, yellow and white. The contrast worked well together and would stand out from competitors and businesses in the area. The fonts that we chose were google fonts, Oswald and Arvo.

The next step was to develop an online presence. I designed a one-page website that people could contact us through. I did some sketches, designed a quick concept to present to the team. Once we were happy I built the site.

The result

We created a social media presence, we used twitter, facebook, instagram and a blog. I managed the facebook marketing. We kept our followers up-to-date with our discoveries, this helped to create interest in the project. Our online presence gave us credibility. It helped us connect with the community. By having a brand and a website we could market more clearly. We were able to develop campaigns requesting photos and stories that people would like to share. We also interviewed people of the area and shared their stories online. This increased the popularity of the project and a willingness to be part of it.
